Yanmenguan Pass is one of the outer three passes along the Great Wall of China, the other two being, Ningwuguan Pass and Pianguan pass). The pass is located on the Yanmen Mountain, northwest of Dai County. The Tang dynasty (618-907) had originally built The Yanmenguan Pass and was later rebuilt by the Ming dynasty (1368-1644). The brick-stone wall of the castle of the Yanmenguan Pass rises to 6 meters and is 1 kilometer in circumference. Originally there were gates on the east, west and north. Yanmenguan pass is open to the tourists but there remains only some part of the arched gates and a pair of stone lions, a couple flag posts and a few stone steles. The Great Wall of China is one of the wonders of the world. Know more about this spectacular Wall and its Passes at 123Chinese NewYear. |
