Jiaoshan Section

The easternmost passage through the principle section of the Great Wall, three kilometers north of Shanhaiguan, stands the 500- meter Jiaoshan Peak. Though comparatively minuscule in dimension, this is the first actual mountain; the Great Wall passes heading west, and so is known as "the first mountain of the Great Wall". 123chinesenewyear provides you more information on the Jiaoshan Section of the Great Wall.

The Jiaoshan Great Wall was constructed during the reign of Emperor Hongwu (1328-1398) of the Ming Dynasty, and it extends about 1,500 meters, from Hanmenguan at the foot of the mountain to Dapingding , the highest point. There are three watch towers and four beacon towers. This section of the Great Wall of China is constructed of locally quarried rock and bricks. The height of the wall is about seven to ten meters, following the contours of

mountain itself, and the usual width is about four to five meters, even though at one point it narrows to just 2.7 meters. The biggest watch tower is on the zenith of Jiaoshan section. The two-story edifice is built in four sections, with the top forming a rough square 10.4 in its height meters and 10.2 meters by weight. Throughout the length of the top are watch holes and embrasures for shelling arrows.

123chinesenewyear provides you with all the vital information one needs to gain knowledge about the Jiaoshan section of the Great Wall.
