Great Wall of China Facts

The remnants measuring about 2500 kilometers out of the 6300 kilometers long Great Wall of China is considered to be one of the Seven Wonders of the World according to a newly released report from the Chinese Academy of the Great Wall. 123chinesenewyear provides you with all the relevant information on various facts on the Great Wall of China.

Qing Wall
The construction of this oldest section began in 221 B.C. after China was amalgamated into a realm from a loose arrangement of feudal states.

Ming Wall
The supreme of all wall builders were the Ming, whose astonishing endeavors dwarfed what had been achieved formerly by the Qin and the Han. The Ming not only built more wall than any other dynasty, but theirs was also larger, longer, more elaborate and more striking. We are familiar with their wall.

Han Wall
The Han restored much of China's classic literature, especially the works of Confucius. In the barren Gobi Desert, the inferior sandy soil forced Han builders to resort to an ancient and painstaking method of wall construction. The Han also supplemented beacon towers to the Wall, spaced fifteen to thirty miles apart. Columns of smoke were used to caution defenders of an attack.
