It was in the early 18th century, that the settlers from China established Chinatowns mainly in the regions of the Southeast Asia, including the Cholon district of the former Saigon, Vietnam. The place of Cholon district was highly fortified for protecting the Chinese domain from the harassment by native Vietnamese Tay Son loyalists. Still today it remains one of the bustling Cantonese-speaking dominion that comprises of the districts 5 and 6 of the city, which now popularly known as the Ho Chi Minh City. The Chinese New Year celebration in Vietnam is celebrated in grand manner with greetings and events filling up the ambiance of the place.
