You can enjoy Chinese New Year celebration in Canada at most Canadian cities. There is a vibrant Chinese population in major cities like Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary, Ottawa, and Toronto. Most of these cities have a Chinatown; Toronto has a bustling Chinatown.

The Chinese New Year is celebrated every year in January or February as the date changes each year. The celebration includes parades, food and performances. You can find a Chinese community or cultural centre in many cities in Canada.

Chinese New Year in Toronto, Ontario: The Metro Toronto Convention Centre hosts a number of shows by the Divine Performing Arts. You can take walks and bicycle tours specializing in historical and food tours of Chinatown and other ethnic areas of the city. Toronto’s Old Chinatown has a number of restaurants and shops selling Chinese goods. There is a huge Dragon Dance Parade organized here. The city has five more Chinatowns which have their own way of celebrations.

Chinese New Year in Vancouver, British Columbia: You can enjoy a variety of celebrations at the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden. There are also parades for the Chinese New Year.

Chinese New Year in Ottawa, Ontario: The Divine Performing Arts formerly known as the Chinese New Year Spectacular hosts a number of performances. It celebrates myths and legends inspired classical Chinese dance and music. You can also learn about 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture. There are shows at the Ottawa National Arts Centre and performances by the Ottawa Chamber Orchestra.

Chinese New Year in Calgary, Alberta: there is a 3-day celebration organized by the Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre. It ends in a gala evening with the Dragon and Lions Dance.
