Beijing or jing, was affirmed the status of the capital city in the year 1057 BC by the King Wu. The names of the city kept on changing from Ji, Zhongdu, Dadu and then finally the Ming dynasty emperor ChengZu selected the name Beijing in the year 1421.Being the country's center for cultural, educational, economic and political activities, Beijing appropriately earns the status of the capital city of the People's Republic of China.Located in the northern China at an elevation of 43.5m above the sea level, the city is close to Tiajin municipality and is encircled by the Hebei Province. The entire area of Beijing is about 16808 sq km, which stretches from 160 kilometers from east to west and 180 kilometers from north to south and the population of Beijing is about14.93 million people.

Another place of tourist attraction is the Temple of Heaven, which is a valuable visiting place of Beijing. This temple was constructed during the Ming Dynasty in the year 1420 AD for the purpose of offering sacrifices to heaven.
