Chinese Tea Culture

There is a famous and well-known saying in China , which goes like "Firewood, rice, oil, salt, sauce, vinegar and tea are the seven necessities to begin a day." Mostly all the Chinese people very sincerely follow this saying and thus tea forms a major part of their routine.Chinese tea culture forms an essential part of the Chinese people's lifestyle and has become a symbol of the Chinese culture.Chinese people are so fond of tea that it is not a surprise to find 4 different varieties of tea in China . These different varieties are Green tea, Black tea, Oolong tea and the scented tea.

Green Tea
Green tea is a famous tea in different parts of China , especially during the summers as it is cool and fights off inflammation. While preparing the tea, the fresh tealeaves are baked to remove the bitter taste of the tea.

While care is taken to pick the quality green tea leaves during the Pure Brightness period, which is around 4-6th April and during the Grain Rain period, which is around 19-21st April. The popular types of green tea include Longjing tea from the West Lake, Biluochun from Wu County, Suzhuo, Huangshan Maofeng tea from Mt. Huangshan in Anhui, and Junshan Silver tea from Hills of Junshan. Because of its tonic effect, the green tea is becoming the favorite of the people who spend long hours before the computers.

Black Tea
Black tea is known as the fermented tea. Black tea can preserve its fragrance for a long time and hence it is appropriate for long-distance transportation. Black tea has a good effect on the stomach and is suitable in winters and autumn. The different varieties of the black tea include Qi Hong, Dian Hong and Ying Hong.



Oolong Tea
Oolong tea is identical to the gongfu tea, which includes a whole set of tea wares. Fujian, Guangdong, and Taiwan are the three major areas where the oolong tea is grown. Tieguanyin has also become the representative of the Oolong tea, though Dahongpao has become all the more precious.

Scented Tea
As the name suggests, the scented tea is a combination of mixture of flowers, green tea or black tea or the oolong tea. The flowers to be used in the preparation of the tea are orchid, jasmine, rose, gardenia and sweet-scented osmanthus flowers. Fuzhou in Fujian Province and Suzhou in Jiangsu province are famous for scented tea.
