Chinese Kung Fu


The word "kung fu" originated in west and means "skill" or "ability". It is one of the various forms the Chinese martial arts. Shaolin monks are regarded to be the creators of Chinese kung fu. Shaolin Kung fu is recognized for its many animal styles such as tiger, crane, dragon, monkey, praying mantis and snake. Nowadays Chinese prefer to use the term Wushu in order to describe the Chinese martial arts instead of Kung fu. exercise and training regime of China. Since then the word has been used in context of the Chinese martial arts by the Taiwan's Government. Tai Chi Chuan
The word "Tai Chi" points to the Chinese cosmological idea of the interaction of the two opposite yet balancing forces called Yin and Yang as being the basis of the creation. "Chuan" refers to "fist" and indicates an unarmed method of battle. The principle behind 'Tai Chi Chuan' is the defeat of the hard by soft. It is one of the three "internal" styles of the Chinese kung fu.



Wing Chun
Being one of the popular forms of the Chinese kung fu, the history of the style dates back to about 250 years back to the Southern Shaolin Temple. During that time the temple was being used as a sanctuary to the Chinese revolution that was trying its best to put an end to the rule of the Manchu. Bruce Lee popularized this style of the Chinese kung fu.

Choy Li Fut
It is the most famous styles of the Chinese kung fu. The principle used in this style is that of powerful arms ad hands techniques. Speed, balance and power are the three important elements of this style. The four main hand techniques used in this style are the straight punch, the back fist, the uppercut and the hook punch.
